Seller FAQ

Questions we hear most from owners.

How long does it take to sell my business?

Most well-prepared sales move from initial valuation to closing in roughly five to eight months, though timelines vary based on industry, deal size, and how quickly buyers can secure financing.

How is my business valued?

We build a valuation around your business's earnings (SDE or EBITDA depending on size), industry-specific multiples, and adjustments for factors like owner dependence, customer concentration, and growth trends — the same lens buyers use to evaluate an offer.

Will my sale stay confidential from employees, customers, and competitors?

Yes. Marketing is conducted under strict confidentiality using blind profiles and non-disclosure agreements. Buyers only receive identifying details after they're qualified and have signed an NDA.

What information do I need to provide to get started?

To start, recent tax returns and financial statements are enough for an initial valuation. As the process moves forward, we'll ask for more detail on operations, customers, and contracts to support marketing and due diligence.

Do I pay anything upfront?

Engagement terms — including any retainer and the success-based fee structure — are reviewed and agreed to before marketing begins, so there are no surprises. Specifics are discussed during your initial consultation.

What types of businesses does Rock Royal work with?

We primarily represent established, profitable small and mid-sized businesses across a range of industries. If you're unsure whether your business is a fit, the initial consultation is free and confidential.

How do you find buyers?

We combine a curated network of strategic and financial buyers with targeted, confidential outreach to create competitive demand while protecting your privacy.

What happens after I accept an offer?

The buyer moves into due diligence to verify financials and operations. We manage that process on your behalf, then coordinate final documents, closing, and a transition plan.
